Underground Railroad Game {FREEBIE ALERT!}

I've been wanting to share something with you guys for a while, but just haven't had the time to sit down and put it together. You may have heard me talk about my Civil War Unit that I had been working on earlier this month. I was so excited to finally post it, but I didn't get a chance to blog about it {and share this freebie with you!} You can see all the details about the unit here, but the real reason I wanted to post today was to share this fun Underground Railroad game that I made as part of the unit:
This is a great small group game for students to play after they have learned about the Underground Railroad. In the lesson provided in the unit, teachers begin by reading Henry's Freedom Box by Ellen Levine {fabulous book with wonderful illustrations!} and then using my prepared interactive SMARTBoard/PowerPoint slides to teach about how the Underground Railroad worked. As a closing activity, students play "The Road to Freedom" board game:
At the beginning of each player's turn, he/she reads a fact card about the Underground Railroad.
So, whether you teach the Civil War, or the Underground Railroad separately, feel free to tuck this game away! You can grab it here. {I will also place it in my social studies game archives to grab at any time!}
